ABILITIES
General Magic

⠀⠀The Exarch is a Black Mage, White Mage, and Paladin. Thus making him an all rounder. As a Black Mage, he is seen using White Mage Skills. All if most of his power is drawn from the Crystal Tower.
⠀⠀Additionally, without the Crystal Tower the Exarch's power will begin to wane. In essence, he cannot live away from the Crystal Tower for very long.

Roleplaying

⠀⠀Psuedo spoilery below, so be mindful.
⠀⠀I tend to roleplay Exarch as his own individual character, as opposed to associating him with other things/themes for specific reasons. Although toward the end of the series, there is a key point that differs him to having succeeded in his desires. Sometimes I will diverage from that point, and make it simply be, that memories were the only thing that had been adapated. As opposed to the memories AND SOUL. Rather, I will story write that his soul was left behined and make this different. This is usually how my Alternate Universes happen in roleplay that I put him in!
⠀⠀

Fate (typemoon) AU

⠀⠀Usually a Foreigner servant here to help Chaldea with what they need. He was brought here by a roleplay I engaged with, along side a friend. Of which I decided to canonize for this AU. I think inevitably he can be summoned as a Caster as well, under the right conditions. However, for a - servant in a normal Grail war. Unless we make an AU where FFXIV existed in canon some how on Earth or w.e. I cant rationalize making him a summonable servant in a regular Grail War. Feel free to bother him in Chaldea at any time!

⠀⠀In Nasuworks, he inevitably becomes reincarnated as a human, and finds himself wanting to seek out something his soul is missing. He ends up joining the Grail War, and you can use this as a means to roleplay with him as a Master. He will have been professor at the Clock Tower, and is a proud Historian. Though, often looked down upon by fellow collegue and most magus families. He over works to make himself come out on top, and even adopted a young girl who he named Lyna. He is always wearing a hood covering his head, and unless he is teaching, never really shows his face.
⠀⠀He is a near 30 year old adult, single dad, making ends meet, over works himself, and often refuses to leave his room.
⠀⠀During the Grail war he first partakes in, he realizes what the Grail actually is for and in an attempt to stop it. Ends up burning through all the magic circuits in his right arm. I am in the middle of deciding more from this, but this is all you really need to know. Usually for GRAILWAR au stuff, it will be his second Grail War and he is attempting to stop that one too.

DND

⠀⠀Shuts ym eyes. Yes... Bc I love dnd bye felicia.

General Modern AU

⠀⠀Crystal Exarch has a very popular Youtube Channel, called 'Learning History with the Exarch.' The Exarch was a name he adopted when he would go around History forum based websites. The name was dubbed to him over the course of years, and he ultimately just adopted it. As he got older he ended up getting really into sharing his love of History and Legends to the great populace, his popularity is rather neutral. Many people say it is because he is mysterious and has a lovely asmr voice of which many fans listen for this reason alone.
⠀⠀He has managed to never show his face, and in his videos is always wearing a hoodie.
⠀⠀I currently am working on more of his background but more or less this.

First Impressions

⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ VISUAL: The individual here, is merely 5'3. You will notice his right arm is crystalized. He seems to have full control of movement over it. Albeit it being minor, and extremely slow compared to his left side. If you observe a bit more closer, there are parts of his neck that have begun to crystalize as well.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ FASHION:: Hooded cloak with 3 layers. The first is brown, this is the clothing that has a hood. It reaches down all the way to his ankles. The second is a white layer, it sits beneath the red, hanging out on the side. Its decorated with thicker gold embroidery. Held together by a pin that fastens it unto his chest. It is also clipped unto the first layer. The third layer is red, and drapped over all layers. Only being topped itself with pieces of jewelry and a belt that looks more like a caged decoration then anything else. It sweeps over from his right shoulder to his left hip. The red layer has a long and thick sleeve down his crystalized arm. Still leaving room to see it plainly.
⠀⠀He will always wear a hoodie up. Unless a different time line is picked to interact with him in. Covering his face so that no one can see. He is also comfortable wearing what seems to be long robbed items, to hide the other parts of his body crystalizing for others.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ DEMEANOUR: Calm always, an individual whom seemingly if not effortlessly - acts like someone who they are not. It is extremely hard to however, find his nature false in any way. He will keep up his guise regardless of the situation. As it is one that protects him, and everyone else around him.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ SOUND: A spoiler friendly link: Here
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ SCENT: The Exarch is someone who tries hard to keep up with their scent, if only because he worries what others will think of him. A certain someone's favorite shampoo of choice, or perhaps one in which others have picked for him. Seeing as he lacks some effort in taking care of himself, and knowing what to do in that regard. He will opt for things suggested to him as opposed to his own choices.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ MENTAL INFORMATION: Kristoph Gavin from ace attorney level of Psyche Locks suddenly appear.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ MAGICAL INFORMATION: One who has connected them self to Magic, and because of this is becoming taken over by it. I imagine one would not notice anything out of the ordinary - as Ysholta herself did not mention anything of note. Meaning his body is either lacking in any significant changes in his Aether, or there is not a current explanation in how it is the Exarch looks in terms of Magic. My own Head Canon, he is someone whose life force is connected to the Crystal Tower. So you will see this, as if him and the tower are wholly one being in of itself. The magic of the tower, is his as well.

Out of C haracter

⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ BACKTAGGING: Sure.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ FOURTHWALLING: I am okay with this as long as it is a trait of the character. SEE: Deadpool or BB from Fate.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Do not touch the boy, BUT ALSO PLEASE TOUCH THE BOY.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Sure.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀♦️ RELATIONSHIPS: Any thing is fine. I am open to WOL/Exarch ships, need to follow said rules however:
⠀⠀1.Start from the beginning, I do not know your WOL and I do not know their chemistry.
⠀⠀2. Follow the fundamentals of the story, I understand we all have our own head canons. Maybe in the future we can explore them, but as it is when we first meet. Please start off simply.
⠀⠀3. I enjoy Cis Male x Cis Female ships.

Back Story

⠀⠀ ⠀⠀A man who gave up everything for the sake of a future the people fought for, and believed in.

Much of the information here is copied from the wiki, and reworded to be spoiler friendly as to who the Exarch is. The following information will give you a quick run down of his story, specifically revoling around SHB. As such, it is a SHB spoiler in itself. Do not read if you are wishing to progress in the story yourself naturally!

◆◆◆

⠀⠀ By the time the Crystal Tower was reopened two centuries into the future of Eorzea, the Exarch had partially fused with the tower to prolong his life as its keeper. He learned of the Eighth Umbral Calamity that had claimed the lives of the Warrior of Light and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn along with the endless conflict that had followed. Acting on a hypothesis proposed by Cid, the Exarch sent himself and the Crystal Tower to the First.
Some time after the Flood of Light had occurred there, this had been the catalyst that had allowed the Umbral Calamity to unfold on the Source. Taking on the identity now as the "Crystal Exarch", the Exarch had began to establish the city of Crystarium. Using it as a haven for the people of Lakeland.
⠀⠀ The Exarch attempted to summon the Warrior of Light to the First via the Calling, but ended up summoning the other Scions instead. Due to the time difference between the Source and the First, the latter being a parallel world of the former, the Scions ended up appearing years apart from each other. The Exarch found himself confiding in Urianger Augurelt, about things that dwelled on his mind.
⠀⠀ When the Warrior of Light finally arrived on the First, The Exarch, acted as the Scions' guide and leader, directing their efforts in defeating the Lightwardens. When the final Lightwarden was defeated, The Exarch then revealed his 'apparent' plan to the group. Having stated that all along had intended to steal the light that the Warrior had absorbed from the Lightwardens. With it, he would transport himself and the Crystal Tower to the Dimensional Rift where the light could be safely expunged, killing him and returning the Scions to the Source. Emet-Selch thwarted the plan, having figured out his true identity. When the Warrior prepared to battle Emet-Selch, the Exarch used his powers to summon heroes from other worlds to fight alongside them. After Emet-Selch's defeat, the Exarch returned to Crystarium where he continued to aid the Scions in finding a way to return to the Source.
⠀⠀ In time, the Exarch, with the help of Beq Lugg, worked out a method to send the stranded Scions back to the Source using crystals infused with his own blood. He created spirit vessels for each Scion, plus an additional one for himself, intending to take the first as a safety precaution. However, drawing upon the Crystal Tower's energy to such a degree caused his own body to further crystallize.
⠀⠀ The Ascian Elidibus seized the Exarch's spirit vessel and used it to conduct the Crystal Tower and summon spectral versions of otherworldly heroes, having them relentlessly hunt down the Warrior from the Source. Coming to the Warrior's aid as they overpowered this Ascian, the Exarch used the last of his strength to finish the Ascian off, using the Crystal Tower like a White Auracite. The Exarch then gave the Warrior of Darkness his spirit vessel containing his 'soul' and memories, content to having fulfilled his mission. He cryptically hinted to the Warrior honoring his last request before fully crystallizing.
